A Chicago Social Club Built for the girls

What began in 2022 as a Lake Michigan boat day with friends of friends who were simply glad the plans made it out of the group chat quickly became a mission. In the wake of the pandemic (when so many of us felt disconnected and isolated), we saw an urgent need to rebuild real, in-person community. Today, What The Girls Are Doin’ (WTGAD) is a Black women-founded social club helping women fall in love with Chicago.

Whether you’re a new Chicagoan finding your footing or a lifelong local looking to expand your circle, we all crave the same thing: authentic connection and a reason to get outside. We curate intentional gatherings across the city to help women break through social isolation, discover Chicago beyond the usual hotspots, and build lasting friendships. Think mixers, game nights, and neighborhood tours, from intimate book club sessions to everything else in between.
